Police on Sunday claimed to have recovered huge Narcotics worth chores during a investigation related to weapon smuggling case in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
In a statement to GNS, the police said that on 13th of October acting upon a specific input a joint search operation was launched by Kupwara Police and Army 6 JAK Rifles which had culminated in the recovery of arms and ammunition.
The officials said that 05 Pistols, 10 Pistol magazines, 05 Grenades, 4.9 mm 138 rounds were recovered.
In this regard a case FIR No. 78/2020, U/s 7/25 Arms Act was registered in Police statiom Karnah and thorough investigation taken up.
The statement further stated that during the course of investigation three suspects namely Tanveer Ahmed Khan son of Ab Rashid Khan resident of Teetwal, Karnah, Sajad Ahmed Kakroo son of Bashir Ahmed Kakro resident of Gundishat and Zakir Hussain Shah son of Ali Haider Shah resident of Takia, Bahadurkot were brought for questioning by Police in connection with their involvement in cross-border narco-weapon smuggling.
During sustained questioning and upon their disclosure five packets of Brown Sugar like substance weighing approx. 5.5 kgs have been recovered from the home courtyard of one of the accused namely Tanveer Ahmad Khan son of Ab Rashid Khan resident of Teetwal, Karnah .
All the three accused have been arrested and further investigation u/s 8/21 and Ss 13, 18 and 39 UAPA Act is underway, reads the statement.
